✌🏻️Still Alive✌🏻️

We ate lunch with one of my favorite members from the Scioto this week and she told us a funny story about her grandson. He is on a mission in Scotland and when he writes his weekly emails with his sketchy adventures he signs off, Still alive. One week he talked about how he had walked about 5 miles out into the country to knock on some doors and they caught a ride back into town with a stranger in a white van with no windows and only two front doors #kidnappervan. After that email she asked him how many other time he was going to have to say Still Alive before it wasn't true. We shall see if he stops his sketchy adventures. Don't worry, I didn't have any sketchy adventures this week, I just thought The story was funny😂 #elderproblems Anyway, I am in fact Still alive this week! It was proabably the longest week of my mission, but we made it folks. And as the saying goes, all is well that ends well, and this week...

Folks, time is short when you spend your Preparation day on one of the only beaches in Ohio with your zone for fun but I will try and express the awesomeness of the week. First we'll do a segment called Danville Problems. Danville is a small village that is the center of Amish country in central Ohio. It's tiny but full of amazing people that we talk to every week. They are from a simpler time and there are a lot of funny differences from our new world, so here are two funny ones 1. We had another lesson wi Jeff this week. We brought a great ward member Mia and our new miracle investigator Amy to teach with us. Mia is from Danville and as soon as she got out of the car she threw a fit. She saw my boots... And she told me she was taking them to her Amish friend in Danville who will resolve them. I laughed and told her they just had character but she insisted. I didn't even know there was still such a thing as shoe makers! 2. We were talking with one...

Did I miss the Good part of Good Friday?

Good Friday has always confused me. I remember a few years ago my mother insisted that we celebrate Good Friday. Many Mormon congregations love to celebrate Easter Sunday and sing "He is Risen," but we often skim over Holy Week and the events leading up to His resurrection. Wanting to combat this oversite, my mother read us bible verses, and we talked about how amazing the atonement of Jesus Christ is. I appreciated her testimony, I enjoyed the space for me to find my testimony, I understood the significance of Christ's sacrifice for us, BUT I still could never quite pin down why everyone was always calling this day so good. What was good about Christ's experience in the Garden of Gethsemane, where he bled from every poor and cried for help as he experienced the weight of the world, all while his friends slept nearby... How can a morning that starts with the ultimate betrayal from one of your own be qualified as a good day... Where was the good in...
