Folks, time is short when you spend your Preparation day on one of the only beaches in Ohio with your zone for fun but I will try and express the awesomeness of the week.
First we'll do a segment called Danville Problems. Danville is a small village that is the center of Amish country in central Ohio. It's tiny but full of amazing people that we talk to every week. They are from a simpler time and there are a lot of funny differences from our new world, so here are two funny ones
1. We had another lesson wi Jeff this week. We brought a great ward member Mia and our new miracle investigator Amy to teach with us. Mia is from Danville and as soon as she got out of the car she threw a fit. She saw my boots...
And she told me she was taking them to her Amish friend in Danville who will resolve them. I laughed and told her they just had character but she insisted. I didn't even know there was still such a thing as shoe makers!
2. We were talking with one of the Amish girls who converted a few years ago after church yesterday. She mentioned she hadn't been able to sleep because she had watched a scary movie. We asked her what she watched and she replied "Little House on the Prairie" 😂 she watched the Halloween episode! Gotta love it!
Also, we got a brand spanking new car! I don't get to drive, because Sister Nissalke needs to learn the area. It's a really nice Nissan Rogue SUV ✌🏻️😎❤️🚗
Miracles of the week: Amy has decided to get baptized. She set a date of November 5 and has already quit smoking, started studying and is on her way. Even yesterday at church so many other people have noticed the change in her countenance. We had a lot of member present lessons with her last week, and she even helped us teach our other investigator Jeff who came to church as well. She is on fire spiritually and it's been a blessing to teach her.
Amy has been our saving grace this week.
This morning I had to start a gross program where we plan out our lives after our missions. It was kind of scary but I liked the two questions we responded to today. I had a chance to reflect on the most important spiritual truths I've learned on my mission. Here's what I came up with:
The commandments are loving safeguards that give us access to immeasurable blessings. When we keep the commandments we are filled with peace, light and eternal joy. We are able to share our faith and help others find theses things as well. When we do not keep these commandments, our hearts are filled with guilt and shame. Theses feelings can be resolved through repentance.
The most hopeful message of the gospel is CHANGE (a sneaky word for repentance). Because of Jesus Christ we can continue to be better each and every day. Because of his sacrifice he can reach down and lift us out of any hole we dig for ourselves. He wants to help, and if we ask him for help we can become like him.
When we have faith in Christ, miracles will occur. He has promised so many blessings throughout the scriptures, and if we follow those words miracles will follow. If Peter walked on water, David Slayed a giant, and we can help people feel the converting power of the Book of Mormon, anything we need from God is possible if we have the faith to work with Him!
We can have a very personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They have a plan for us, they know us, and they will give us the answers we need to fulfill their plan if we follow them and ask. Personal revelation is real and can help us help so many other people.
Small and simple things make a big difference. The gospel of Jesus Christ is beautifully simple and simply beautiful. If we work on the small and simple things like building our faith, daily repentance, weekly sabbath day worship, we can have the spirit with us at all times and accomplish great things.
I love you all, remember the Savior and his sacrifice for you this week and take some time to reflect on the spiritual truths your experiences have taught you!
