Urbana is NOT dead #Urbanaisrisen

Guys!

I'm alive! We survived another week! Yasssss
I wanted to keep you updated on the miracles in urbana. So here you go:
First of all we got back into contact with Kelly. Her grandfather recently passed away so it has been hard for us to see her. But we caught her on the phone and got a return appointment. We texted her Saturday night and for the first time she responded and said she might come to church. We see her Wednesday so hopefully we can get her and
her family to church. We had a few good sit downs with some less actives. Before one lesson Sister Davis prayed that we would find out her iceburg. Within 5 minutes and without even asking a question she told us everything. We also got stopped by a less active who was so nice, and he gave us donut money. 🍩
After dropping Miah for 3 weeks we got back into contact with him. We asked him if he would meet us at the church for a lesson and he said yes. Now there may have been some doubt that he would come, but we followed up , texted him like crazy, and offered to lead him to church. I was so happy the whole time seeing his truck following us. The lesson was a spiritual high. We helped him recognize the spirit. We found his iceburg and he finally took off his goofy facade and talked to us. He even teared up a little. He committed to come to church May 1st. He needs this gospel so bad!

Last week we got a member referral from a very active missionary minded family. We were at the park doing some side walk chalk contacting and as we were teaching a young lady, a group of moms from our ward with their non member friends walked up. Sister Johnson came up to us after we finished teaching the young lady the restoration and said hello. We talked for a bit about the young lady we met that morning, then Sister Johnson brought us over to the group to introduce us to her friend Amanda. Amanda was very interested in our missionary work and commitment to the gospel. She and her husband Daniel are very involved in their church and love working with the Urbana community to bring them closer to God. They started the Urbana House of Prayer to bring together religious people to find ways to reach out to the
community.  They have a small building open to the public in Urbana that is a sanctuary for prayer and Christian worship. She invited us to join them on Saturday evening for a worship session and dinner. While we were walking over on Saturday evening we experienced a range of mixed emotions. We were excited to see Amanda but also nervous about meeting the rest of the group. I have been to a lot of Christian worship services before with friends, but we were apprehensive because
we didn't know much about what exactly was going to happen during the worship service. We didn't know what kind of music they played, how they prayed, how involved we were going to be. As we were walking up the butterflies in our stomachs picked up, but we were immediately comforted when we saw Amanda waiting for us near the doors. She
greeted us with a HUGE smile and hugs. She introduced us to the others in the group, and her husband Daniel immediately explained how the night was going to go. She let us wander and check out the building but as soon as we looked a little lost she would be back at our side pushing us in the right direction. It was a very uplifting evening full of great Christian worship music, food, friends, discussions on community outreach, and we were even able to teach Amanda about the Restoration and invite her to our services. She expressed so much gratitude for us coming in and spending time with them and promised to check with Sister Johnson on attending church. On our walk home we thought about the experience and looked up at Heavenly Father smiling. Not only had he guided us through studies of how to help people attend church, he had given us a very literal chance to step into the shoes of our investigators as they attend a new foreign church. We know personally how they feel, and in the words of Elder Oaks this conference, there are some things you just can't learn from study. Also finally  #ourbishoptrustsus We just got a text from our bishop who we will be having dinner with
tomorrow. He has invited two of his friends who live in urbana to come after dinner for dessert and a discussion. Miracles happen. No we didn't have 6 people at church. But miracles happen.

The Spiritual thought of the week comes for Bishop CaussΓ© in April of 2015, "There are so many wonders in this world. However, sometimes when we have them constantly before our eyes, we take them for granted. We look, but we don’t really see; we hear, but we don’t really listen. Wonders also occur in our individual lives. They include our own personal conversion, the answers we receive to our prayers, and the tender blessings God showers upon us daily. To marvel at the wonders of the gospel is a sign of faith. It is to recognize the hand of the Lord in our lives and in everything around us. Our amazement also produces spiritual strength. It gives us the energy to remain anchored in our faith and to engage ourselves in the work of salvation."

Miracles are all around us. Even if they are small successes, they are successes. Marvel in the little things. Remember Jesus loves you!
