First off, HAPPY EASTER!!! He is risen, He lives, and Because of Him we can become greater than we could ever even imagine. I hope each of your Easters were filled with Hope in the Savior and sunshine!
It's been an exciting week since we talked last. Last Thursday we traveled into my homeland (Columbus) and picked up Sister Lewis! YASSSSSS The adorable Sister Lewis who helped me survive our crazy experience in our Missionary Training Center district is joining us for the next six weeks in the blessed land of Urbana. She is from Cedar Hills Utah and went to the BYU before the mission. She clicks perfectly with Sister Davis and I, and is the perfect amount of chill and motivation to light a fire under all of our butts. We've gotten so much work done and it's only been three days. We still love quoting Nacho Libre, she is still a musical genius, and I love contacting people with her. She is a joy to have and sunshine in our lives. Did I mention I love her 😋 now all i need is to serve with Sister Lonnecker (The MTC Companion) and my mission will be complete ❤️
Yesterday was Easter. We had one of the most memorable Easter feasts I've had in awhile. Our church experience was a little frustrating and we felt lonely and a little homesick, but we remembered our savior and went to work to share his love with some of the ward members. They are the cutest people I have ever met, and she just had surgery 6 days ago. We wanted to make sure she was ok, and didn't need any service. As soon as she figured out we didn't have a place to spend Easter she flew into and uproar and we concocted an impromptu Easter Feast. We helped her make buffalo chicken wings, fries, and potato salad. It was a great afternoon full of love and laughs. She is like the southern Grandma I always wanted. She shared her Easter candy, food, and most importantly her love with us. You never know how much a warm hug, some warm food, and some laughs can mean to someone!
After that we returned to Urbana and set out to share the love we just received with the rest of the people! We took a few minutes to appreciate the beautiful sunshine, entertained each other with so much good music, shared our testimonies with the people we met, and ended up finding an adorable young mum who literally ran outside to meet us! She LOVED the Easter message #Hallelujah (https://www.mormon.org/easter) and she was so excited for us to come
share more with her and her kids! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH the blessings of diligence are real ❤️
I will leave you all with a gentle reminder to watch General Conference this week!! We have modern day prophets, they spend a lot of time and energy seeking revelation to help us find happiness and peace in our world. They help us understand the scriptures, they help us learn from the spirit. They love us. I promise if you take your questions to Heavenly Father he will answer them through something said at General Conference. Do not prevent limit the personal revelation you receive by not tuning in!
Also here is my favorite conference quote of all time from one of our modern day apostles, Elder Jefferey R Holland (The First Great Commandment, October 2012)
"To which Jesus responded (and here again I acknowledge my nonscriptural elaboration), perhaps saying something like: “Then Peter, why are you here? Why are we back on this same shore, by these same nets, having this same conversation? Wasn’t it obvious then and isn’t it obvious now that if I want fish, I can get fish? What I need, Peter, are disciples--and I need them forever. I need someone to feed my sheep and save my lambs. I need someone to preach my gospel and defend my faith. I need someone who loves me, truly, truly loves me, and loves what our Father in Heaven has commissioned me to do. Ours is not a feeble message. It is not a fleeting task. It is not hapless; it is not hopeless; it is not to be consigned to the ash heap of history. It is the work of Almighty God, and it is to change the world. So, Peter, for the second and presumably the last time, I am asking you to leave all this and to go teach and testify, labor and serve loyally until the day in which they will do to you exactly what they did to me.”
God loves us. He gave us modern day prophets and apostles to keep us safe. Listen to them, follow them, and you will have true lasting joy.
Love ya!
