Hello All,
It has been a crazy long week in Scioto full of lots of adventures including Zoo trips with the Sister Training Leaders, Matt almost dropping us 4 times over the phone, talking to amazing people on the street like Dean the deputy sheriff/ex marine, last minute sacrament meeting talks, and little to no sleep. Such is the life of a missionary. Fortunately, with the Lord and the Spirit on our side we
were able to keep Matt on track, resolve his concerns and he is now more excited than ever to be baptized on Oct 31. He was able to come to church this week and enjoyed his experience. His faith is
incredible and I love having the opportunity to see him grow and help him grow closer to the Savior. Shep is not so hot this week. He bailed on the baptism we invited him to on Saturday evening and didn't come to church because he was "tired as heck." I'm learning a lot of patience from him, but unfortunately we will probably drop him after we see him tomorrow for a bit. He needs time to think about what we've taught him and whether or not he really wants to change. While I pray every night that he'll call us and explain how he's gotten over all of his concerns and that he'll finally feel the spirit so strongly he cannon balls into the baptismal font, there's only so much we can do for him as missionaries. Sad days.
Sister Williams and I are having fun. We've been working on not sending awkward texts out to people this week (see my subject line for more info) I've learned a lot about the principle; kids learn when they want to learn not when you are ready to teach them. This week I've been focusing a lot on teaching when she's ready to learn and answering all her questions even if they are weird and she's been a lot more receptive this week. She's still freezing, even though it's only fall so we'll see what happens when it actually gets cold she also cut my hair last week, we make life a party here. Life is good!
The scripture of the week this week is Luke 22:32
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
The most important work we can do in this life is to strengthen those around us. When we come to have the powerful knowledge of the atonement we should seek to share it with everyone! And as we
strengthen our brethren we will see miracles and our own faith will be strengthened. Go find somebody to build up this week and the Lord will build you up as well.
I love you all, hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall season!!
