moments. I feel like sometimes all I write about is last weekend so
this time I'm working hard to fit in a whole weeks worth of events.
Here goes nothing; last Tuesday was an exciting day for Sister Morgan.
We finally managed to have a lesson with all of our progressing
investigators and our recent convert Barbara. Tia's lesson went really
well and we finally left some solid commitments with her to pray about
being baptized on October 10. She's been on vacation this week but
we've been lovingly pestering her and sending her uplifting
scriptures. We know she can be ready by then, hopefully she can
recognize her own faith this week! We had a funny lessons with Shep in
which Sister Reynolds tried to teach him all of the hardest
commandments to keep before baptism (the law of chastity, word of
wisdom, paying tithing etc.) Barbara is still a gem, she told us about
a really cool experience she had where she felt like she gained her
testimony. She calls it her Joseph Smith moment. #somuchfaith
Wednesday began with a quality Zone meeting where we talked about the
Importance of the Book of Mormon. Then came the joyful reunion of
Sister Corbett and Sister Reynolds for a short but awesome exchange in
Scioto. It was good to know that even though she still has trouble
with bikes and bike racks, her testimony is still a refreshing
powerful punch in the face whenever you hear it. We did so much
effective missionary work and I learned so much from her! Plenty of
good times were had as well. It was a nice taste of peace and felt
like home.
Being the inspired leader she is she left me with so much good advice
and so many inspired commitments. The rest of the weekend was spent
conquering Grove City and talking to everyone that stepped outside
that we could see. Finding is one of the scariest missionary
activities but also one of the most exciting. You get to talk to so
many different people and even if they don't want to talk to you, if
you get them talking you hear some pretty incredible stories. We ran
into one cute old lady when we were tracting in the Rain on Thursday
evening. She came to close her door for the evening right as we hit
her porch, she came outside and asked us what we were doing in the
storm. We told her we were put talking about Jesus Christ and she
launched into a 10 minute testimony on how much she loved Christ. We
left her with a Pamphlet about the Restoration and have been back a
few times to visit. She's a bit older and I don't know how much she is
comprehending or hearing (she's extremely elderly) but she loves to
hear about Christ and it's really refreshing.
Sunday was crazy. We invited a ton of people to church but no one
came. We did have fun getting to know a few more members, and setting
up a few activities with the youth this week. There isn't a huge youth
group here but the ones that do come are awesome. I'm excited to get
to know them! Also Sister Morgan got a wicked Migraine and we had to
stay in. I was really worried about her, but she ended up being able
to sleep it off, and one of the ward members brought us dinner so we
survived. Today has been a pretty quality PDay. Sister Morgan allowed
me to schedule in some service for an awesome less active lady in our
ward, it felt good to get out and help her fix up her yard. She's also
trusting us a lot more. Life is just pretty great!
The Spiritual highlight of the week comes from the inspired Sister
Corbett. She reminded me that when the work gets slow or we are not
seeing the results we expect; that we need to make sure we are asking
ourselves What more can I do? NOT What am I doing wrong?
Sometimes our lives go slow. Sometimes we don't see the blessings that
Heavenly Father is showering down onto us. There is opposition in all
things and trials will always be a part of our existence and sometimes
we may be doing something wrong. However, there will be times when we
are doing everything right and all we can ask is "what more can I do?"
And be happy with the results we are getting. President Uchtdorf gave
an amazing talk on patience and trusting in the Lord's timing and he
said,
"Patience means to abide in faith, knowing that sometimes it is in the
waiting rather than in the receiving that we grow the most."
(Continuing in Patience)
Instead of doubting yourself this week, look around and find something
more you can do while you are abiding in faith and trusting in the
Lord's timing!
I hope you are all well. I'm having a blast spreading the gospel in
Grove City! Choose the right this week, and don't be afraid to talk to
that random stranger. You never know who needs a lift from you!
Love,
Sister Reynolds
