Hello beautiful people,
Life is good in Grove City. This week has been one for the books. Matt decided to visit his new church on Monday night, get baptized during one of their revivals, he was filled with the Holy Ghost, and now likes to text us every night and bash on Joseph Smith. Apparently we have statues of him on top of our temples and we worship him, and we don't baptize in the name of Christ, and we don't believe in the bible. (For all those reading this please know that Angel Moroni is the statue on top of our temples and he is sounding the trumpet warning of Christ's second coming, because we worship Jesus Christ not Joseph Smith; when baptisms are performed they are performed in the
name of the Father (God), the Son (Christ), and the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit); oh and Mormons love the Bible and we read it WITH the Book of Mormon) yup, he's hearing a lot of anti Mormon literature from his new friends and we have had to give him a break to cool off before we try to see what happened. It was pretty sad to see such a Golden investigator fall off the wagon but all we can do is invite him to learn more. That got our week off to a great start but not to worry. Sister Williams is a champ and we were able to cheerfully do all we could and find lots of tender mercies this weekend to make up for the craziness of Matt:
1. Shep came to church. He tried to scare us and almost didn't come because of transportation, but because we have been working so hard to build relationships with the members of the church here we were able to find him a last minute ride and he was able to come, ask questions and feel the spirit in church.
2. Speaking of the spirit, it was so strong this week because we had the Primary Program this week during church. The primary kids got up,and sand the cutest songs and talked about all they have learned in their classes this year. They made me cry when they started singing "I am a Child of God". It was exactly what I needed to hear and the spirit was there so strong. #totsadorbs
3.Crystal came to church on her own a few weeks ago, she wanted to learn more but has been attending the ward she lives in for these last few weeks. It was hard to hand such a golden investigator off to the Marble Cliff sisters but they have taken great care of her. Yesterday she attended our ward to invite us and her friends she made to her baptism. She made the cutest invites, and it was so cool to talk to her more and hear how much her faith has grown!!
4. We had family dinner with the cutest family ward last night. I love being with them and they made us feel extremely welcome. We also got to help them with missionary work which is always fun!
5. We got a referral from a member of our ward. He wants us to come help him teach the wife of a friend of his. I know this sounds like it should happen every Sunday but it doesn't! i cannot express to you how hard we have worked, and how much effort we have put into developing solid relationships with members of the ward. I've been here for 4 months now and this is the first time a member has volunteered a friend for us to teach, and it makes me soooo happy!
Moral of the story; Heavenly Father sees our hard work and he rewards us when he is ready. One of my favorite conference talks was from Sister Marriott. She told us about her family motto "It will all work out." It's not, it will all work out NOW or it will all work out when we need it to. It is simply it will all work out whenever Heavenly Father sees fit. In Mosiah 4 King Benjamin reminds us
27 And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he
might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order.
God isn't asking us to be perfect, he just wants us to be perfectly diligent. We don't have to be better than anyone else, we just have to do the very best we can every single day and know that God will work out the rest. Work hard this week to do all you can, then leave the rest to God. Have faith that he'll give you what you need , when you need it, and look out for those answers and results of your work in the places you least expect it.
Have a fantastic week everyone!!
