| This is my trainer Sister Corbett |
| This was our MTC District with our leaders Sister Stegelmeier and Brother Hixson |
Life is good here in the great Ohio land. We arrived in Columbus last
Wednesday, took care of some lost luggage, placed some Books of
Mormon, learned about driving as a missionary, ate some Brisket at the
mission home, did some iPad training, and then off to transfers we
went the next morning. Transfer meeting felt cool, but also semi
depressing. We got to meet our trainers and see a lot of missionaries,
but there were also a lot of departing missionaries and that just made
me realize exactly how far away that day is for me. They each gave a
testimony about how time had gone so fast and they didn't want to go
home, I was just really wishing that was me. Anyway, I was assigned
to the Scioto 2 area with Sister Corbett. She's been an incredible
trainer so far. She is very laid back and chill like me, but knows so
much. She also likes to talk, and I love to listen so it all works
out.
Being a new missionary is semi frustrating. 2 weeks in the MTC was a
blessing and a curse; I could not have handled any more than two weeks
but I definitely have continually felt like a fish out of Ayer
continually trying to learn lots of new processes and things in a very
short amount of time. It's also frustrating because no body likes you
when you come to a new are and you have to be super social and nice to
all of the investigators even though they just want the old sister
back. This is officially the awkward part of the mission where you
just want to be in the perfect space where everything is consistent
and routine but you are in the rocky part where you know nothing and
you are always tired.
I'm making it sound like my life is terrible; its not. It's pretty
wonderful actually. We live in a pretty cool apartment with a piano, I
own (or will in 18 months) a brand new iPad, we have a car and don't
do much biking, I get to spend 4 hours every morning studying the
scriptures, I get to meet with great members of the church everyday, I
have a mission president who may or may not have been squeezing his
wife's butt while they took pictures of us on our first day in the
mission home to embarrass her and make us laugh. I do miss Sister
Lonnecker (she'll spend her first 12 weeks on the OSU campus with her
trainer) but I know she's kicking butt and teaching all of the YSA's
and students there.
I've been studying diligence a lot lately. There's always a period in
the morning where I wake up and feel like; holy cow, what was I
thinking when I signed up for this? But then I get to work and my life
is good. I've learned that even though life is tiring when you are
expending your efforts as a missionary, Heavenly Father wants you to
do it for your own good. Diligence is protection and a safe guard that
allows you to keep the spirit with you and keeps you happy.
I've also seen exactly how much Heavenly Father prepares us for life.
One of the most frustrating things the last few weeks has been the
constant change, but I feel like I've been able to adapt and cope
better because I learned how to do it from the changes/moves I've made
in my earlier life. Also little situations like having our
disposal/sink clogged on day 2 (which I was able to fix because I had
to do the same thing in college) let me know that Heavenly Father is
looking out for us and will always helps us accomplish hard things by
preparing us for them.
How was Powell/the brothers?
Also Pdays are now Monday's for me, and honestly any time you want to
send an email my way I can read it so keep them coming!
I miss you guys and I wish I could give you all a hug!
Scripture of the week:
3 Nephi 13:31-33
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What
shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all
these things shall be added unto you.
Love
Sister Reynolds 😘
